The British government is anticipated to announce new sanctions today targeting Russia’s illicit shadow fleet for oil and LNG, following the interception of a sanctioned Russian oil tanker in the Channel on Sunday. The move could disrupt a segment of LNG trade that relied on opaque shipping and financing channels.

Australia's Offshore Alliance ​is seeking to extend industrial action through July 6, threatening to halt all loadings at the Inpex-operated Ichthys LNG terminal. The strikes were initially expected to end on June 23.

China’s push to electrify heavy-duty trucking is set to materially lift electricity demand, with potential knock-on effects on LNG imports. Around Beijing, electrification rates are expected to reach as high as 80% on certain corridors, accelerating the shift away from diesel and LNG toward grid-based energy.

Woodside Energy said on Monday it is not aware of any takeover proposal Exxon Mobil and is not engaged in any such discussions. There is no certainty Exxon will proceed with a bid, as both companies continue to collaborate on the Bass Strait project.
