Marmara LNG capacity rises 63%

Turkey has started expanding its Marmara Ereğlisi LNG import terminal with construction of a fourth storage tank, state operator BOTAŞ said. The new 160,000-cubic-meter tank will lift total LNG storage capacity to 415,000 cubic meters from 255,000 cubic meters. Works began on July 7, with addition of the fourth storage tank set to increase the terminal’s total capacity by about 63%, once in operation around 2029.

Shell has reached financial close on a small-scale LNG regasification terminal in the Bahamas. The project will be built in phases, with the regasified LNG – mostly sourced from Shell’s US LNG offtake – set to support baseload generation at Clifton Pier in excess of 170 MW.

One berth, one supplier

Beihai LNG in Guangxi has discharged 26 cargoes this year to 13 July, and every one of them came from Russia. That intake marks the terminal’s second-busiest first half in eight years, behind only 2024, and ten cargoes more than it took over the same window last year. The berth is working at its usual rate. Nothing else has come through it.

Poland’s state-controlled TSO Gaz-System is considering adding a second floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) to its planned LNG import terminal in Gdansk. The project is slated to start with 6.1 bcm per year of regas capacity and could be expanded by another 4.5 bcm to 10.6 bcm per year when it comes online, currently targeted for 2028.
