Marathon Oil Corp. of the US said it achieved first natural gas production through its new Alba field offshore compression platform in the waters of Equatorial Guinea, expanding the life-span of the West African nation’s LNG export plant.

Sempra Energy of California and Woodside of Australia are pushing on with their US Port Arthur LNG export venture in Texas and are likely to make a formal application for permits in September 2016 to the US Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.
