The Conference Board of Canada, an independent economic policy think-tank, said that Canadians would benefit from liquefied natural gas export projects and the nation could create an industry with good prospects of long-term expansion.

The Japanese government approved a bill to overhaul Japan Oil, Gas and Metals National Corp. (Jogmec) to enhance the functions of the state-owned body to support Japanese upstream developers in acquiring overseas resource companies for LNG projects and other ventures.

US LNG exports are likely to be more expensive this winter as the second Train at Cheniere Energy’s Sabine Pass facility is ramped and the benchmark Henry Hub front-month price on the New York Mercantile Exchange reached a 22-month high on forecast higher domestic demand and colder weather.

India said it planned to increase its liquefied natural gas import capacity to 50 million tonnes per annum from the current 21 MTPA as new infrastructure comes on line on the East Coast and LNG fuel is marketed for transport.
