Australia's Oil Search Ltd. has agreed a $2.2 billion takeover of InterOil Corp., increasing its stakes in the existing ExxonMobil-operated Papua New Guinea LNG plant and the proposed Papua LNG project led by French energy major Total after itself rebuffing an acquisition effort by Woodside Petroleum in 2015.

Canadian company Fortis Inc. has signed a 20-year agreement to supply liquefied natural gas to the US state of Hawaii’s main power company for gas-fired generation from its small-scale liquefaction plant in British Columbia, starting in 2021.

The US Philly Shipyard in Philadelphia held a ceremonial keel-laying for a second product tanker in a four-vessel LNG-Ready order for American Petroleum Tankers, a subsidiary of US natural gas pipeline giant Kinder Morgan.

French LNG and energy project engineering company Technip and US operator FMC Technologies have agreed to merge to create a combination valued at $13 billion and a leader in the global subsea sector.
