Pacific NorthWest LNG, the project led by Malaysia’s Petronas in the Canadian province of British Columbia, said it wanted Asian nations to have the cleanest and most reliable fuel available as it rejected an attempt by the international climate-change lobby to put pressure on the federal government in Ottawa to cancel the venture.
Canadian company Fortis Inc. has signed a 20-year agreement to supply liquefied natural gas to the US state of Hawaii’s main power company for gas-fired generation from its small-scale liquefaction plant in British Columbia, starting in 2021.
