Qatar Petroleum, the largest LNG exporter and the main stakeholder in the US Golden Pass LNG export project on the Gulf Coast, has won exploration rights for five offshore blocks in the Gulf of Mexico in the Mexican government’s bidding round. 

Dominion Energy said its Cove Point liquefied natural gas export plant at Chesapeake Bay has begun producing LNG with the newly constructed facility undergoing full commissioning along with a comprehensive round of testing and quality assurance activities before commercial operations begin in just over one month’s time.

While the US state of California has shunned the LNG market in terms of exports and imports, Australian exploration and production company Sacgasco is aiming to revitalize western supplies through its stakes in eight Californian natural gas fields in the Sacramento Basin in the north of the state.
