Qatar’s energy minister Saad al-Kaabi has threatened to halt LNG supplies to the European Union if the bloc proceeds with its planned supply chain directive. Katherina Reiche, the German energy minister will address the issue during her visit in Qatar this week.

In the first 10 months of this year, US LNG producers signed sales and purchase agreements (SPAs) totalling 29.5 mill tonnes of LNG per year, more than four times the 7 mill tonnes signed the year before, according to data from consulting firm Rapidan Energy Group, reported Reuters.
