Qatar’s energy minister Saad al-Kaabi has threatened to halt LNG supplies to the European Union if the bloc proceeds with its planned supply chain directive. Katherina Reiche, the German energy minister will address the issue during her visit in Qatar this week.
Michael Lewis, CEO of Germany’s largest gas importer Uniper, welcomes plans by U.S. President Trump to expand oil & gas production as well as LNG exports. He urged German industry to use more ‘blue hydrogen,’ made via steam methane reforming, into their energy transitions plans, rather than focussing solely on ‘green hydrogen,' derived from renewable energy.
Finish technology group Wärtsilä will supply engines and its LNGPac fuel gas handling system for a new research vessel, under construction at Fassmer shipyard in Germany. All equipment is due delivered to the yard in mid-2018, for the vessel to enter service in early 2020.
