Greece has warned EU sanctions against the transhipment of Russian LNG to third countries could surrender market share to non-European rivals, as EU envoys postponed talks on the bloc’s 21^st sanctions against Russia to July 23.

Venture Global and Greece’s Atlantic-SEE LNG Trade have doubled the volume under their long-term supply agreement, raising the commitment to at least 1 mtpa of US LNG starting in 2030 for a two-decade tenure.

METLEN Energy & Metals has established a framework with Shell for the supply and trade of 0.5 to 1.0 bcm per year over the between 2027 and 2031. Deliveries will go to the Greek LNG regas terminals in Revithoussa and Alexandroupolis.

Aktor’s joint venture with Greece’s state gas supplier Depa has signed a deal with Venture Global to import US LNG for domestic use and re-export to Ukraine and Romania. Initial re-exports are intended to start as early as 2026.

Greece has signed its first long-term LNG supply contract, agreeing to purchase at least 700 million cubic meters annually from Venture Global for the next 20 years. The LNG will be procured by a Greek partnership between AKTOR and DEPA Commercial, with an option to expand the annual offtake to 2 billion cubic meters.

Operations at the Revithoussa LNG regasification and import terminal in Greece have resumed after a planned shutdown to upgrade the plant with a new high-pressure BOG compressor. According to Greece’s National Gas System Operator (DESFA), the upgrade will eliminate the need for wasteful gas flaring during normal operations.
