Stolt-Nielsen Ltd, the Norwegian-listed shipping and storage group, said in its second-quarter earnings that its gas subsidiary was continuing to focus on the development of small-scale LNG storage and distribution supply chains to serve locations lacking access to natural gas pipelines.

Japanese energy company Inpex said it was still scheduled to ship its first LNG cargo from the Australian Ichthys liquefaction plant near Darwin by the end of September, even as the joint venture has had some last-minute delays.

Italian energy company Eni has started natural gas production from the Sankofa gas field offshore Ghana as the West Africa nation still awaits firm progress on one of the various LNG import projects it has been involved in to meet its growing energy needs.

Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering, the world's second-largest shipbuilder by construction contracts, said it received an order from a Greek shipping company to construct a liquefied natural gas floating storage and regasification unit.
