Two Japanese shipbuilders, Imabari Shipbuilding and Japan Marine United, are forming an alliance to compete better against merging South Korean and Chinese shipyards, though will concentrate on LNG-powered vessels rather than high-value orders for LNG carriers.
Nippon Kaiji Kyokai, the Japanese maritime classification society known as ClassNK, has approved the concept and design of an LNG-powered large Capesize bulk carrier put forward by Japanese shipping companies NYK Line and Japan Marine United.
