Aug 27 - Project partners in Gladstone LNG in Queensland, Australia have issued a tender for five commissioning cargoes. The tender will close on September 14. Bids are invited for two cargoes each in October and November as well as one cargo in December.
However, GLNG reserves the right to cancel a delivery if the liquefaction project does to meet its production volume threshold in the commissioning phase.

Aug 27 - ConocoPhillips aims for a mid-2018 start-up of a $15 billion gas development offshore northern Australia to feed its Darwin LNG project once current supplies run low.
On the cards are the Caldita-Barossa gas fields in the Timor Sea or the Poseidon fields in the Browse Basin, but only to be developed as 'backfill' for Darwin LNG, not an expansion.

Aug 26 - BMI Research expects Petronas to benefit from the takeover of Shell's 50% interest in the MLNG Dua plant as the deal enables the Malaysian national oil and gas producer to better balance domestic gas production with regional LNG demand. "It will allow it [Petronas] to consolidate its operations in Sarawak and aid its efforts in developing the region as a gas hub," analysts said.

Aug 26 - Houston-based Texas LNG Brownsville has appointed BNP Paribas as a financial advisor. Planned to deliver its first LNG cargo by 2020, the Brownsville liquefaction plant is designed to produce up to 2 mtpa of LNG from feed gas sourced from the US natural gas system.

Growing supply of hydropower and a fall in overall electricity demand has prompted the Brazilian Ministry of Mines and Energy to authorize Petrobras to re-export LNG.

The administration of Hawaii's Governor David Ige has reconsidered the costs of retrofitting or building new power plants based on LNG, and found that they do not make economic sense for the island.

Aug 25 - Russia's second-biggest gas producer Novatek is about to sell a 9.9% stake worth an estimated $1.4 billion in its Yamal LNG project to China's Silk Road infrastructure fund, according to reports in Kommersant business daily. The deal is expected to close in the coming weeks.

Aug 25 - Royal Dutch Shell has signed a joint development agreement with Italian-Thai Development and LNG Plus International to build a LNG terminal as part of Myanmar's Dawei port complex development. The landed LNG will be sold through Myanmar and Thailand.
