Egypt has exported a 150,000 cu m LNG cargo to Canada from its Idku liquefication plant.
The cargo was loaded on TotalEnergies’ operated LNGC ‘LNG Endeavour’ and was the first shipment of 2026.
According to the Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources (MoPMR), this move supported the country’s role as a regional hub for gas trading, as well as encouraging foreign partners to pump more investment to increase domestic gas production.
Egypt is also expanding its regional influence through integrated energy networks.
For example, this month, the MoPMR signed two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with the Syrian Ministry of Energy to supply natural gas for electricity generation.
This followed a December, 2025 agreement with the Lebanese Ministry of Energy and Water to provide natural gas to the Deir Ammar Power Plant.
In 2025, Egypt exported more than five LNG cargoes of around 150,000-155,000 each to European and Asian markets, including shipments to Greece, Türkiye, and Italy.
