The Coral floating LNG project being developed offshore the southeast African nation of Mozambique has chosen three global companies to make the plans a reality in terms of engineering and construction.

The US Department of Energy has approved a long-term export application from the first floating liquefied natural gas production project in North America, the Delfin LNG joint venture proposed for the Gulf of Mexico offshore Louisiana.

Italian Energy company Eni has held a contract-signing ceremony in Mozambique to signal the advance of the Coral floating liquefied natural gas project, the first joint venture to tap the huge gas resources discovered by Eni in the Area 4 licence block of the southeast African nation's offshore Rovuma Basin.
