Nov 20 (LNG) - Australian LNG producer Woodside has signed a long-term gas sale and purchase agreement with Perdaman Chemicals and Fertilisers of Western Australia for the supply of pipeline gas for a term of 20 years, primarily sourced from Woodside’s portfolio and proposed Scarborough development. The agreement is subject to a number of conditions and supply will commence between 2023 and 2025. “This is a significant domestic gas sale and represents another step towards the delivery of the proposed Burrup Hub,” said Chief Executive Peter Coleman. “The realisation of our vision for the Hub will ensure that the world-class North West Shelf and Pluto facilities on the Burrup Peninsula are positioned to meet both domestic gas and global LNG demand for decades to come,” he added.

Chevron Corp. said production was on stream at the second processing Train at the onshore Wheatstone LNG plant in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, bringing the Australians closer to surpassing the world's largest exporter Qatar in LNG output.

Woodside Petroleum, the Australian liquefied natural gas operator, has promised a jobs bonanza from LNG expansion to people in the city of Karratha, adjoining the port of Dampier from where LNG exports are shipped, as well as in the state of Western Australia and the Pilbara region.

The head of Chevron Corp. in Australia has called for the sharing of LNG infrastructure among the major operators of four world-class liquefaction plants in Western Australia to improve energy economics and profitability.

Chevron Corp shipped the first cargo from the Wheatstone plant in Western Australia to the Japanese buyer, Jera Co Inc, the joint venture company set up by Tokyo Electric Power Co. and Chubu Electric.

An LNG carrier is scheduled to arrive on October 30 at the new Wheatstone LNG export plant in the Pilbara region of Western Australia to lift a commercial cargo.

Chevron Corp., the operator of the Gorgon LNG plant on Barrow Island in Western Australia, said one of its three Trains has been shut until mid-June because of a technical fault as its newest Wheatstone venture continues with its commissioning process.
