Russia’s LNG economy at risk of losing steam

With a vast gas resource base, Russia’s significance to the global LNG market has not changed materially. However, ongoing headwinds since the Ukraine invasion are beginning to chip away at its progress, our Markets Editor Alexander Wilk writes. 

Offtakers of US LNG are willing to pay higher tolling fees which gives project sponsors good margins considering the current low gas prices at Henry Hub. Some developers of new-built liquefaction plants have asked long-term buyers for higher liquefaction fees to cover rising interest rates and construction costs – and most agreed as US export is still the cheapest-priced gas worldwide. Business case for fitting a CCS on an LNGC analysed

DNV recently co-ordinated a Joint Industry Project (JIP) set up to examine the business case and feasibility of fitting a carbon capture and storage (CCS) system on board a 174,000 cu m LNGC.  Technical Editor Ian Cochran reports.
