Nov 15 (LNGJ) - French LNG and energy project company Technip has named its latest newbuild vessel for subsea operations “Deep Explorer”. An official naming ceremony for the diving support vessel was held at the Vard Langsten shipyard in Norway. The vessel hull was built by Vard Tulcea shipyard in Romania and then towed to Vard Langsten for equipment outfitting and commissioning. The vessel features a 24-man twin bell saturated dive system rated to 350 metres. Technip is scheduled to underpin its subsea business as it prepares to merge with Houston, Texas-based FMC Technologies Their respective shareholders hold meetings in the France and the US on December 5 to formally approve the $13 billion merger.
