Oct 24 (LNGJ) - Statoil of Norway was awarded a 100 percent exploration permit in the prolific Carnarvon Basin on the Northwest shelf of Australia known for its huge natural gas resources, onshore LNG plants and Floating LNG ventures under development. This is Statoil's third asset in Australia, including BP-operated offshore permits. The Statoil permit WA-506-P covers an area of more than 13,000 square kilometres, situated 300 kilometres offshore. "This award adds another large acreage position with high-impact potential to our global portfolio," said Erling Vågnes, Senior Vice President for exploration in the region.
