China’s gas supplies fell by 1.1% and oil imports rose by 15.8% in January/February, 2026 year-on-year, the General Administration of Customs of China has reported.
According to the figures, deliveries of oil and gas during the reporting period amounted to 96.93 mill tonnes and 20.1 mill tonnes. In terms of value, this dropped by 5.2% (to $44.32 bill) and 12.7% ($8.44 bill), respectively.
Russia is the leading exporter of energy resources to China.
In 2025, China purchased 100.72 mill tonns of oil from Russia (down 7.1%), and 9.79 mill tonnes of LNG (up by 18.2%).
Deliveries via the Power of Siberia gas pipeline amounted to about 38.8 bill cu m - up 25%, Russian newswire TASS reported.
