Italian engineer company, Sicim is to provide front-end engineering design (FEED) for Mozambique’s Rovuma LNG Phase 1 project.
The company was contracted by Subsea 7 within the ExxonMobil development plan.
Sicim will undertake the FEED for the onshore part of the section, around 125 miles north of the city of Pemba, in a strategic area for the development of the energy industry in Mozambique.
The contract includes six pipelines’ design, each around three miles long, and an umbilical of equal length. Together, they will connect the LNG liquefaction plant to the offshore pipes.
Sicim said it will take charge of a number of key operations, including process design and pipeline technical safety, as well as piping engineering for the launcher/receiver area and the infrastructure works required from a civil engineering standpoint.
In collaboration with Italian classification society and consultancy, RINA, the company will also take charge of environmental engineering tasks, with a special focus on the study of the work’s environmental impacts and the development activities and on vulnerable areas, such as alluvial zones.
