White & Case advises JERA on long term LNGC charter

International law firm, White & Case, has advised JERA on a long term timecharter party for a newbuilding LNGC.

The charterparty was signed by Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL) and LNG Marine Transport Limited (LMT).

"By securing this long term charter contract for a state-of-the-art LNG carrier, JERA further fortifies its LNG supply chain stability," said White & Case local partner, Michael Richter, who co-led the Firm's deal team. 

"This deal underlines our firm's extensive experience and expertise in the energy sector, particularly advising on complex LNG shipping agreements," he said.

The LNGC will be built by Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) and is scheduled for delivery in 2026 and be managed by MOL and transport LNG for JERA.

LMT is a vessel operation management company that is jointly owned by JERA, Mitsubishi Corp and Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (NYK).

White & Case’s Tokyo team, which advised on the transaction, was co-led by partner, Paul Harrison with local partner, Richter and included associate, Emily Jiang.
