Australian LNG plant developer, Tamboran has signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding  (MoU) with Santos to collaborate on technical studies for the potential expansion of the Darwin LNG (DLNG) facility in Australia’s Northern Territory.

This expansion project, referred to as Train 2, could increase the facility’s LNG capacity by about 6 mill tonnes per annum, adding to the existing 10 mill tonnes operation at Middle Arm.

The MoU also includes the commercialisation of natural gas from the jointly owned EP 161 acreage in the Beetaloo Basin, where Santos holds a 75% stake and Tamboran has 25%.

Tamboran is advancing its Northern Territory LNG (NTLNG) project, currently at the pre-FEED study stage, while aiming to supply gas to domestic and international LNG markets, including those out of Darwin and Gladstone, the company said.
