Russian energy giant, Gazprom has delivered its first LNG cargo to Italy from its Baltic Portovaya plant, according to LSEG data yesterday.
Russia's pipeline gas supplies to Europe hsd plummeted since 2022 after the Ukrainian conflict, while LNG supplies have risen.
According to the LSEG data, the LNGC ‘Cool Rover’ arrived at the FSRU ‘Toscana’ terminal in off Livorno on Tuesday.
Russia's Yamal LNG plant had already supplied several cargoes to Italy over the past few years, according to LSEG’s database.
A small-scale plant with an annual capacity of 1.5 mill tonnes, Portovaya started operations in September, 2022.
The first cargoes from the plant were shipped to Turkey, Greece and China.
In March, Gazprom also supplied its first LNG cargo to Spain.
Russia's January to November overall LNG exports increased by 4.7% from a year earlier to 29.1 mill tonnes with just over half going to Europe, according to LSEG.
