Oct 5 (LNGJ) - The Russian Maritime Register of Shipping, the nation's classification society that oversees LNG carriers and other vessels, named Konstantin Palnikov, aged 49, as its new Director General. Palnikov is a graduate of the Leningrad Higher Engineering Marine School and made a career from a rating to an officer in the Russian merchant fleet and with foreign shipping companies. He previously headed the shipping company Volga-Neva Ltd and JS North-Western Shipping Co. From March 2011 Palnikov directed the Russian Department of State Policy for Maritime and River Transport.
