Fast LNG capacity builds and high price could curb US gas-burn

Thursday, 06 July 2023

Faster development of US LNG terminals in response to higher prices could cause a 12 percent plunge in gas-burn for power generation to as little as 18.6 Bcf/d in the years through 2050, government analysts project. This adds to the effect of renewables growth which is set to curb gas-burn by more than a third from 2022-levels at 32.3 Bcf/d.
