New gas developments are progressing slowly in Latin America, so supply cannot keep up with demand which is forecast to grow 1.4 percent per year over the next decade to 25 billion cubic feet per day (bdf/d). With supply falling 5.6 percent over the same period, the region needs to import 7 to 12 bcf/d by 2035 to meet demand.
