Following its initial import in December last year, Ukrainian energy firms led by state-owned Naftogaz are looking to ramp-up LNG flows into the country before the start of next winter. Ukraine plans to import LNG via European terminals to counter Russian infrastructure attacks, with Naftogaz securing a second 0.07mmt cargo for delivery in April. The strategy aims to strengthen US relations while ensuring energy security, with plans to primarily import 2.90mmt of US LNG by October. However, this may still fall short of actual requirements by roughly 1.0mmt come winter, our calculations suggest.
