Ireland has approved a state-led gas emergency reserve using an FSRU owned by GNI, joining European installations. The decision came amid Europe’s increasing reliance on such units since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. A higher risk of sabotage incidents has heightened concerns. The reserve is a transitional measure towards renewable energy under strict legal procurement guidelines.
