Russian LNG Transfers to Resume in EU as Market Share Debate Intensifies

Tuesday, 22 October 2024

Belgium is due to resume Russian LNG transshipments to Asia amid growing controversy over Russia's increasing share of EU LNG imports, which reached 20pct in 2024's first nine months. Russian LNG transshipments face an EU port ban in from 2Q 2025, with hitherto large-scale importers of Russian LNG pushing for even stricter regulations and swifter phase-outs of Russian gas by every Member State.
