The average price of spot LNG cargoes imported to Japan in April rose to $7.90 per million British thermal units from $7.60 per MMBtu the previous month, slightly reversing the impact of lower oil prices.

Woodside Petroleum has restored production at Australia's largest LNG plant, the North West Shelf facility at Karratha in Western Australia, following a loss of power on May 5 that led to a week-long shutdown.

Awilco LNG, the Norwegian-based pure play LNG carrier fleet owner with five vessels, posted a 32 percent drop in quarterly freight income as the LNG price spread narrowed further and left limited opportunities for arbitrage between West and East.

Fluxys of Belgium, the owner of the Zeebrugge LNG import terminal, said the construction of a second jetty for handling LNG carriers with capacities up to 217,000 cubic metres will be in operation from 2016 while a pipline linking with a French import facility will be completed by year-end.
