BW Group of Singapore said it was selected by the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Co. to provide LNG regasification services using a Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU) at the Gulf of Suez port of Ain Sokhna.

Noble Energy, the US energy company with LNG interests in the East Mediterranean, said it planned to halt drilling activities in the Marcellus Shale due to low prices for natural gas in the US market.

Indian engineering company Punj Lloyd Group said it won a contract for preparatory work on the first onshore liquefied natural gas import terminal being developed on the east coast of the country at the port of Ennore in the state of Tamil Nadu.

The surplus of liquefied natural gas on the global market could grow as Japan is poised for its first nuclear plant re-start since the Fukushima disaster at a time when excess liquefaction capacity is growing as new export projects come on stream in the next six months.
