A decade-old $22 billion LNG supply contract - the cheapest deal ever struck by India's GAIL - could be revived if negotiations with National Iranian Gas Export Company (NIGEC) prove successful.

Struggling to compete in oversupplied LNG markets, "US export capacity holders are likely to operate without regard to their sunk cost tolling fees and deliver gas at a cost of feedstock plus transport plus margin," suggests Ross Wyeno, senior energy analyst at Platts' Bentek Energy.
