While LNG and natural gas demand is expected to continue growing steadily in emerging economies in Asia and the Middle East the transport and small-scale sectors will also try to secure more supplies.

Sempra Energy, the California utility with LNG assets on the US Gulf coast and Mexico and with plans to build a Mexican liquefaction plant, said its IEnova subsidiary was awarded a natural gas pipeline construction contract in Chihuahua by the nation's Federal Energy Commission (CFE).

Evergas, the Danish shipping company with a fleet of 25 vessels including small-scale multi-gas LNG carriers, has added to its fleet with two 27,500 cubic metres capacity vessels named at a shipyard ceremony in the Chinese port city of Qidong in southeastern Jiangsu province.

The main Canadian ferry company in the French-speaking province of Quebec has commissioned the first North American LNG-fuelled ferry for operations in the Gulf of Saint Lawrence region.
