Panama Canal expansion inaugurated and first transit of LNG carrier is scheduled for July

Thousands of people watched the first vessel, especially renamed the “COSCO Shipping Panama”, inaugurate the $5.5 billion widening of the Panama Canal linking the Atlantic and Pacific basins and enabling larger ships such as LNG carriers to transit.
