Statoil to shut down Hammerfest LNG for repairs

Statoil said its Hammerfest LNG plant in Northern Norway, Europe’s only base-load LNG production facility, would be closed for two to three weeks starting on October 14 for repairs to be carried out.

The Norwegian company said the one-Train plant, which produces 4.3 million tonnes per annum of LNG, required to be taken offline because of the discovery of a contraction in a heat exchanger tube.
