Japanese push ahead with new LNG-fuelled vessels

Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha (K-Line) and the shipbuilding division of IHI Corp. are developing separate LNG-fuelled freight ships able meet new emissions standards in US and Northern European waters over the next couple of years.

K-Line is in the process of developing vehicle carriers using LNG as fuel in a project also involving Kawsaki Heavy Industries (KHI)  and Det Norske Veritas, the Norway-based shipping classification society.
