LNG

Japanese utilities will seek to be key buyers of US LNG which developers will produce from the gas surplus caused by the shale boom, and the US cargoes will more than replace those lost by Japan with the closure of the Kenai LNG plant in Alaska.

The Kenai LNG plant will finally be closed by ConocoPhillips in October 2011 after delivering LNG to Tokyo Electric Power Co. and Tokyo Gas since it opened in late 1969.
