LNG terminal developer, FortisBC Holdings and First Nation Musqueam Indian Band have signed an agreement, aimed at sharing the benefits associated with the Tilbury LNG projects.
The British Columbia Oil and Gas Commission in Canada has awarded a three-year contract to a Houston, Texas-based company to conduct project reviews and assist in Field Inspections of LNG facilities in the Pacific Coast province.
The Texas-based private equity firm, BP Energy Partners (BPEP), has purchased a controlling interest in Cryopeak LNG Solutions Corp., a small-scale Canadian provider of liquefied natural gas to users in remote locations.
Chinese company CIMC Enric, a maker of ISO containers that carried the first cargo of Canadian LNG from Canada to China, said it signed an agreement to sell 275 of the containers to China LNG Group and at least 800 more before the end of the year.
Canada’s largest private utility FortisBC is eager to find alternative offtakers from its Tilbury LNG facility after a deal with Hawaiian Electric faltered. Expansion of the Tilbury site is now at risk - the timeline will be pushed back, if no alternative buyer can be found.
FortisBC, the power and natural gas distribution company in the Canadian province of British Columbia, said its Tilbury LNG plant expansion project was leading to $400 million of investments to benefit businesses and provide jobs.
US shipping group Crowley has applied to the Canadian National Energy Board for an export permit to ship LNG south by truck, barge or ship from small-scale liquefaction plants currently operating or being expanded in Canada.
