June 29 (LNGJ) - Origin Energy, the upstream partner in the Australian Pacific LNG venture led by operator ConocoPhillips and nearing completion, said it expected shareholder and buyer Sinopec of China to fulfil its obligations and to take delivery of its contracted volumes. Origin said its statement was in response to recent speculation. "Whilst Sinopec's take-or-pay obligation will commence on the start date, the SPA does provide Sinopec with flexibility in terms of where it can take the cargoes," Origin explained. "As is typical under these types of agreements, the LNG produced during the commissioning phase will be sold under short-term contracts. APLNG LNG has begun to contract these commissioning cargoes."
