June 9 (LNGJ) - LNG importer Argentina said state-run energy company YPF had made a shale-gas discovery in the nation's huge Vaca Muerta (Dead Cow) shale play in the south of the country. The discovery was in the La Ribera X-1 well in the Patagonian province of Neuquen and initial production was put at 43,000 cubic metres of gas per day. YPF has increased exploration activity in the shale play since the government seized control of YPF from Spanish energy company Repsol in 2012.
