Oct 7 (LNGJ) - The UK is keeping up its liquefied natural gas import ratios as natural gas consumption for gas-fired power generation has increased in 2016 as more coal-fired power plants have been replaced. Natural gas power burn increased by 43 percent in the first nine months compared with the same period last year and was 37 percent higher than the average for the previous three years, according to official figures. Coal generation accounted for 23 percent of the total electricity generated in the UK. The country recently commissioned its latest gas-fired power plant, the 880-megawatt Carrington facility in Manchester.
