March 30 (LNGJ) – Two LNG players have been awarded an exploration licence offshore Ghana in West Africa. Italian energy company Eni was granted operatorship in a prolific area offshore Ghana where oil and natural gas have already been discovered. The Eni licence is for Cape Three Points Block 4, located in the Tano Basin. One of the shareholders in the licence is the upstream division of the London-based Vitol Group, the LNG and commodities trader. The new block covers an area of 1,127 square kilometres in water depths ranging from 100 to 1,200 metres and partially surrounds the OCTP block comprising various oil and gas discoveries.
