April 22 (LNGJ) - BG Group has strengthened its shipping alliance with Monaco-based LNG carrier fleet operator GasLog. The UK company has agreed to charter three more newbuilds when they are delivered to GasLog from 2017. BG also has an option to charter an additional six newbuilds from the Greek-run company. BG's shipping subsidiary has also been selling some of its own ships to GasLog and chartering them back. Under the latest deal, BG will charter the three LNG vessels for nine years or more "at attractive rates" and which will add about $845 million to GasLog revenue. BG also currently charters the 174,000 cubic metres capacity ships "GasLog Shanghai", "GasLog Santiago" and "GasLog Sydney".
