Feb 24 (LNGJ) - Inpex Corp., the developer of LNG projects in Australia and offshore Indonesia, said it was awarded key joint venture exploration licences for areas offshore Western Australia known as Blocks WA-513-P and WA-514-P. Inpex will hold 40 percent of the licences and Australia's Santos will operate them with 60 percent. The exploration will take place in the Browse Basin and adjacent to an area where Royal Dutch Shell and Inpex are developing the Prelude Floating LNG venture. The Japanese company now holds 13 permits which are also in the vicinity of the Ichthys gas field from where feed-gas will be supplied to the Ichthys LNG plant near Darwin being developed by Inpex and Total of France.
