Feb 4 (LNGJ) - Norwegian energy company and LNG producer Statoil has appointed Eldar Saetre as its new President and Chief Executive to replace Helge Lund who takes up that role at BG Group of the UK on March 1. Saetre has been acting as president and CEO since Lund left in October, 2014, and assumes the role with immediate effect. He has 35 years' experience with Statoil and the oil and gas industry. "Eldar Saetre was our first choice. The industry and company are facing demanding challenges. Eldar stands out with his long experience and ability to create change," said the board of Statoil, operator of Europe's largest LNG liquefaction plant at Hammerfest in Northern Norway.
