Louisiana welcomes LNG spend

Dec 11 (LNGJ) - Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal and William M. Wicker, Chief Executive of Venture Global LNG, made a joint announcement of a plan  to invest $4.25 billion to build a new US LNG export plant on the Calcasieu Ship Channel. Construction is expected to begin at the 200-acre Venture Global site in the third quarter of 2016. The liquefaction facilities are expected to be placed into operation in late 2019, the company said. With a planned export capacity of 10 million tonnes per annum when fully developed, the facility will welcome LNG carriers with capacity of up to 185,000 cubic metres.
