Energy boost for Bangladesh

Oct 28 (LNGJ) - Chevron Corp. has started natural gas production from the Bibiyana Expansion Project in north-eastern Bangladesh, helping alleviate energy shortages in the Asian nation as it also awaits a floating LNG import facility. The Chevron project includes an expansion of the existing gas plant to process increased volumes from the Bibiyana field of more than 300 million cubic feet per day to a total of 1.4 billion cubic feet. Excelerate Energy, the US floating LNG developer, has signed an agreement to set up an LNG import terminal for Bangladesh in the Bay of Bengal to provide natural gas to the southeast region of Chittagong.
