June 18 (LNGJ) - BW Group, which has a fleet of 15 LNG carriers, said it appointed Carsten Mortensen as Group Chief Executive to replace Andreas Sohmen-Pao who resigned. Mortensen leaves a similar position at shipping group Norden. Sohmen-Pao will join the BW Group board and remain active on the boards of subsidiaries BW Offshore, BW LPG and BW Pacific. "BW has significantly broadened its scope of activity in the past decade across multiple maritime sectors and is well positioned for future growth," BW said. Sohmen-Pao was cited as saying: "Carsten is an outstanding leader in the maritime sector and is an ideal candidate to lead BW into the next phase of growth. We warmly welcome Carsten to the team."
