June 17 (LNGJ) - Gazprom, the Russian natural gas supplier has filed a lawsuit in the Stockholm International Arbitration Court seeking to recover $4.5 billion in debts from Ukrainian energy distribution company Naftogaz. The Russian company is claiming the Ukraine company's non-compliance with contract obligations for the purchase of pipeline natural gas since 2009. Gazprom says it will only supply the Ukrainian company with supplies for now on a pre-paid basis. The Gazprom-Naftogaz dispute is regarded as the commercial front of the territorial conflict between the two nations of the former Soviet Union.
